It contains chapters on the early history of the town from its organization as a plantation to the present day. There are facts of interest from its town meetings; the rise and fall of its many mills, taverns, stores and factories; its fourteen school districts and its five churches. And about forty pages are devoted to the birth, life and death of the Narrow Gauge Railroad, later, known as the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway. The basic facts are interwoven with many tales and anecdotes. Some of the material is repeated just as it was told to the author, but much of it has been checked and rechecked in an effort to make this book a true narrative of events, names and dates in so far as it is possible to do so. 0aAlbion, Mainexrailroadytown history.
